TDIC

TDIC is stands for Tourism Development and Investment Company. TDIC is a private organizaton owned by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and it's main purpose is to support Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority's efforts to increase tourists and business visitors over the next 10 years.

(Dalma Island)

There are several projects owned by this company but I like one of them which is the Desert Islands because it designed as a sanctuary of nature and authenticity unique withen the Arabian Gulf. Desert Islands comprise the former Royal nature reserve of Sir Ban Yas Island, Dalma Island and Discovery Islands - which they are six offshore outcrops - and all will be linked by a ferry and hydrofoil servce, water taxis, private resort boat servce, ect.

(One of Discovery Islands)

The Desert Island will have many kind of accommodations, from 5 stars hotels to small familly resorts and beachfront and overwater villas, in which all 4000 hotel rooms will be created. Masder is putting a stratedy which is comprehensive coverage of energy, water, infratructure, waste managements, recycling of energy building standards and elements related to tourism. It also will use solar energy and wind poer throughout the islands.

(Sir Ban Yas Island)

In conclusion, I like to say this is a perfect project because it will make Abu Dhabi a cool city. It will also increase the tourism in Abu Dhabi.

Cool Cities

Good Adaptations:

First, Hybrid cars: This kind of cars recharged their energy by storage system, this adaptation consider as one of the best because its banned the burning of the cars oil which will reduced the carbon dioxide proportion on the air. This adaptation is an extremely useful alternative solution.Second, Solar powered plant farms: This adaptation used for providing the plants with energy which came from a connection with a solar powered machine. Finally, Public transportations: The Light Rail Transit is of those Public transportations which factorized in the cool cities. These transportations used to reduce the percentage of greenhouse gases.

Bad Adaptations:

First, Complicated Towers: the design technology which provided with natural lights, water and being comfortable with the gulf regions climate.Second, The Cost: This city is too costly because it required a high quality features and options to free this city from carbon dioxide.Last, Water Shortage: This city is in fact an island which surrounded with water and that is rare.

Carbon Footprint

Carbon footprint

Carbon footprint is defined as a measure of the exclusive total amount of carbon dioxide emissions that is directly and indirectly caused by an activity or is accumulated over the lift stage of a product. I calculate my "carbon footprint" at http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ and I got 2.40 which means I'm below the UK average, and the survey goes like this: 20% for food, 23% for travel, 29% for home and 29% for stuff. Now I'm going to mention some of my carbon footprint problems and offer some solutions.

First, one of mine is that I use my car many times during a day. Even it is small and does not pollute as much as most cars, this still contributes to atmospheric pollution.

Furthermore, I always buy many household items like; mobile phones, mp3 players, TVs and many others. That means wasting a lot of materials and then maybe throwing them away. As a result, that garbage is burned which effects badly on the environment.

A final problem is that I and my family use electricity too much, so we are wasting this energy source. However, this is non-renewable source, so it is temporary.

Now let's turn to solutions. For the first problem, maybe I could reduce the hours I use the car by planning exactly where I have to go. I could also go to college with my brother because one car is better than two cars.

Second, I have to reduce buying household items. For example, I usually buy a new mobile phone every year, so I could make it every two years instead of one year.

Last, I have already begun to reduce using electricity by switching off the lights when I leave even for a little while, and now I use some air conditions instead of using them all and I watch TV with my family instead of alone.

In summary, these are some of my carbon footprint problems and the solutions offered are the best ways to reduce the problems in my opinion. In fact, we know that as the atmospheric carbon dioxide levels rise so dose atmospheric temperature, which we name it global warming, and because of that carbon footprint created to reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy, food, Technology items and so on.

An Inconvenient Truth (analysis)

The movie is very interesting and useful, before I had brief information on Global Warming but now I know more information and I am afraid to what will happen to use after 5 years.I agree with him on the idea that we are the reason of what is happening to the earth and we all know that we are the reason and we can reduce and change this problem but who cares and this is our habit we only think of today and we don’t think what will happened to us tomorrow. Its true that in the past or before 10 years the weather was cooler than now and I notice that the more develop we are the more problem we face. I think Al Gore has to get 9 of 10 because he has exciting personality and he made the presentation interesting

An Inconvenient Truth (summary)

Mr. Al Gore in his movie '' An inconvenient truth'', 2006, a former US presidential candidate want to illustrate a message to the people. First he showed as three pictures of the earth were taken from the space from three different men.
Then he talked about one of the most dangerous disaster; Global Warming. This happened when the sun radiation came to the earth in form of waves and that’s heats up the earth, most of the waves absorbed by the earth and then reradiated to the space in form of infrared waves and some of this waves trapped by the earth atmosphere and held inside it. So the atmosphere will become thicker because of the green-house gases and our pollutions. As the scientists said the Global Warming is increasing and as it shown in some countries and areas that the ice is melting and collapsing and they predict that it will continue increasing. They knew that by measuring the ice. He also said that more carbon dioxide (CO2) will lead to warm temperature.

He added that the ten hottest years have occurred in the last fourteen years and especially in 2005 and it killed a lot of people in US. Also this case cased a lot of disaster such as tornado, typhoons and hurricanes. These happened when the water temperature increase, the wind will increase so then the moister content will increase and that will cause flooding to the country. Global Warming not only cause flooding but it also cause drying to some countries. Also this issue will effect the four seasons and will raise the number of diseases.

These problems come from us and we are the only who can stop it. That’s by reducing the use of electricity, vehicles and technology.

Global Warming

As we know global warming is one of the biggest problem that face our planet. This is because some result and we can control it. In this artcle I'll mention some causes ans I'll add some consequences.

Starting the causes, one major cuase is the carbon dioxide emissions. In fact, the Carbon Dioxide emissions are over 6500 million tons per year over the last 200 years. Another cuase is that the Concentration of carbon dioxide. It has dramatically increased in the last 50 years.
Yet another cause is that the CO2 and NOx concentrations in the atmosphere are still increasing.

Shifting to effect, there are two major effect of this issue. First, the tempreture. The truth is the increasnment of the tempreture on the earth is predected to be about 3° to 5° C (34° to 41° Fahrenheit) by the year 2100. The second is the sea level. It will rise by at least 25 meters (82 feet) by the year 2100.

To conclude, if we act fast we can atleast control this issue.

About myself and the purpose of this blog

Hi my name is Salem Rashed Al Mansouri. I was born in 1988 and i grow up in Sila with my family. I have 8 brothers. i was in Sila but moved here in Abu Dhabi to study in college. I live with my brother who is also studying a college.

I am a student at ADMC and i am studying Civil Engineering. In my free time, i go camping in the desert with my friends. I like playing foot ball and valley ball because they are my favorite sports.

I create this blog to discus with my classmate and other blog members about the global warming. This problem is very important problem to our planet and we should deal with it fast.
