TDIC

TDIC is stands for Tourism Development and Investment Company. TDIC is a private organizaton owned by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and it's main purpose is to support Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority's efforts to increase tourists and business visitors over the next 10 years.

(Dalma Island)

There are several projects owned by this company but I like one of them which is the Desert Islands because it designed as a sanctuary of nature and authenticity unique withen the Arabian Gulf. Desert Islands comprise the former Royal nature reserve of Sir Ban Yas Island, Dalma Island and Discovery Islands - which they are six offshore outcrops - and all will be linked by a ferry and hydrofoil servce, water taxis, private resort boat servce, ect.

(One of Discovery Islands)

The Desert Island will have many kind of accommodations, from 5 stars hotels to small familly resorts and beachfront and overwater villas, in which all 4000 hotel rooms will be created. Masder is putting a stratedy which is comprehensive coverage of energy, water, infratructure, waste managements, recycling of energy building standards and elements related to tourism. It also will use solar energy and wind poer throughout the islands.

(Sir Ban Yas Island)

In conclusion, I like to say this is a perfect project because it will make Abu Dhabi a cool city. It will also increase the tourism in Abu Dhabi.

Cool Cities

Good Adaptations:

First, Hybrid cars: This kind of cars recharged their energy by storage system, this adaptation consider as one of the best because its banned the burning of the cars oil which will reduced the carbon dioxide proportion on the air. This adaptation is an extremely useful alternative solution.Second, Solar powered plant farms: This adaptation used for providing the plants with energy which came from a connection with a solar powered machine. Finally, Public transportations: The Light Rail Transit is of those Public transportations which factorized in the cool cities. These transportations used to reduce the percentage of greenhouse gases.

Bad Adaptations:

First, Complicated Towers: the design technology which provided with natural lights, water and being comfortable with the gulf regions climate.Second, The Cost: This city is too costly because it required a high quality features and options to free this city from carbon dioxide.Last, Water Shortage: This city is in fact an island which surrounded with water and that is rare.

Carbon Footprint

Carbon footprint

Carbon footprint is defined as a measure of the exclusive total amount of carbon dioxide emissions that is directly and indirectly caused by an activity or is accumulated over the lift stage of a product. I calculate my "carbon footprint" at http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ and I got 2.40 which means I'm below the UK average, and the survey goes like this: 20% for food, 23% for travel, 29% for home and 29% for stuff. Now I'm going to mention some of my carbon footprint problems and offer some solutions.

First, one of mine is that I use my car many times during a day. Even it is small and does not pollute as much as most cars, this still contributes to atmospheric pollution.

Furthermore, I always buy many household items like; mobile phones, mp3 players, TVs and many others. That means wasting a lot of materials and then maybe throwing them away. As a result, that garbage is burned which effects badly on the environment.

A final problem is that I and my family use electricity too much, so we are wasting this energy source. However, this is non-renewable source, so it is temporary.

Now let's turn to solutions. For the first problem, maybe I could reduce the hours I use the car by planning exactly where I have to go. I could also go to college with my brother because one car is better than two cars.

Second, I have to reduce buying household items. For example, I usually buy a new mobile phone every year, so I could make it every two years instead of one year.

Last, I have already begun to reduce using electricity by switching off the lights when I leave even for a little while, and now I use some air conditions instead of using them all and I watch TV with my family instead of alone.

In summary, these are some of my carbon footprint problems and the solutions offered are the best ways to reduce the problems in my opinion. In fact, we know that as the atmospheric carbon dioxide levels rise so dose atmospheric temperature, which we name it global warming, and because of that carbon footprint created to reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy, food, Technology items and so on.
